HAWK SIGHTING!!!

MAN!!!

Am I jazzed!!!

I was sitting on my deck, finishing up a late lunch (or early supper) at 3:24PM EST when I hear a vaguely familiar rumbling noise. All this morning and afternoon I've been messing around with a new camera, and so was fortunate enough to have it with me. Without a moment's hesitation, I grabbed the rig, popped off the lens cap, switched on, and swung the lens skyward...

Unfortunately I had the camera in point and shoot mode, and the props are frozen, but I dunna care...

Two P-40s just flew over my house! Wheeeeeeeeee!!!

Okay, I'll calm down now...

I dunno which SNJ that was, but the Hawks were Kittyhawk I AK899 (Old Exterminator) and P-40M 43-5795 (The Jacky C. II).

Sometimes it pays to sit on your rear all day with a camera in your hand...

Just a couple items to cover here...

An image of the sole P-40 to fall into Finnish hands has been added to the In Captivity page.

In the Survivors section, the AK899 page has been slightly revamped.
Also, in anticipation of the Geneseo Airshow, coming up this weekend, (see two entries below) a new page documenting AK899 at last year's Genny show has been added...

ADDENDUM:

I've made some adjustments since the update this morning...

In the Survivors section, there is now a new page for the 2007 Geneseo Airshow, with photos of both P-40s that attended... Kittyhawk I AK899, and P-40M 43-5795. Each respective page for these Hawks also includes a link to the new Geneseo 2007 page...

Before we get to the site updates...

Genny 2008 is just around the corner! This year there will be a gathering of Warhawks, with as many as ten P-40s scheduled to attend, including John Fallis' newly restored P-40N. This Hawk is a combat vet which saw service with the 49th Fighter Group in the PTO. Also on the schedule is a Flying Tigers reunion... don't miss this folks!

Alrighty, we have a fairly sizable update this time 'round...

The Armee de l'Air section is now active.

The RCAF section is now active, and includes pages for 111(F), 118(F), and 133(F) Squadrons.

The RAF section now has a page for 260 Squadron. A couple images have been added to the 112 Squadron page.

A couple photos submitted by Walt Bauer were added to the 23rd Fighter Group page.

In the Survivors section, the page for Kittyhawk I AK803 has been slightly revamped. Page 1 for Kittyhawk I AK940 has also been slightly revamped and now includes a period photo.

The April 1938 issue of the Curtiss Fly Leaf has been added. More will come... probably slowly, but surely!
