Modeling the Curtiss P-40

The Curtiss P-40 has been quite a popular modeling subject, if only because of its association with the AVG, or Flying Tigers, and the distinctive sharkmouths carried by their Hawks. They were not the first air unit to adopt this marking but they are undoubtedly the most well-known.

It seems that, as of this writing (early 2005), we modelers are finally getting something which is long overdue... models of the P-40 which more accurately represent the real deal.

The new Hasegawa P-40E and P-40N in 48th are excellent models. And although they have a few problems, (what kit doesn't?) they're the first plastic models which have some of the more crucial details correctly represented. These kits will be covered in reviews here in the modeling section of the Hawk's Nest.
